Higginbotham Enterprises: Professional Temporaries

Who we are

History of Professional Temporaries

The company started on April 30, 1979.  The company was founded by Bobby D. Higginbotham. Prior to the start of the company, Bobby was employed by a local New Orleans bank as the Employee Relations Manager.  Part of his duties, among other things, was to manage the temporary staff for the bank.  He continued in that role for a period of three (3) years.  During that period, he noticed that the bank was spending many dollars for temporary help services.  It occurred to him that he could provide that service himself and do a better job in delivering the same.  In January, 1979, he gave notice to the bank that he would be leaving in 90 days.

The 90 day period was strategic because it facilitated two purposes.

  1. It provided an opportunity for Bobby to help recruit his replacement who would be the person to call him to fill job orders and
  2. He would be the individual whom he would train to send all job orders for temporary help to him.

The bank agreed to send all of its temporary staffing needs to Bobby.  In addition to that, the accounting staff worked with Bobby to process all of his invoices for payment on the same day received.  This process provided needed positive cash flow to fund Bobby’s new company.  Professional Temporaries is the oldest African-American owned temporary staffing company in the southern US.
